Oven Roasted Green Beans
For a quick and easy side, try these roasted green beans. They’re a simple, scrumptious dish that has been a part of our family’s cooking as long as I can remember.

Green beans, also known as string beans or snap beans, are a popular vegetable worldwide. They’re a great source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber, making them a healthy addition to any meal.
What I love most about green beans is their versatility—you can steam, boil, or roast them, and they pair perfectly with so many different things, from entrees to other sides.
Oven roasting green beans is my go-to method for two reasons: it’s simple, and it enhances the natural flavor of the veggies. By roasting them at high temperatures, you create a delicious caramelization that adds depth and richness to the beans.
Plus, it’s a fuss-free cooking process that doesn’t require constant supervision. Just pop the beans in a single layer in the oven, set a timer, toss them, and set the timer again. The magic pretty much just happens while you work on the rest of your meal.
What to serve with oven roasted green beans
For main dishes, roasted green beans complement a variety of proteins, such as baked chicken, grilled salmon and juicy steaks. They’re also an excellent companion to vegetarian and vegan mains, like roasted cauliflower steaks or my hearty roasted vegetable salad.
As for other side dishes, consider pairing them with creamy mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese or a wild rice pilaf for a mix of textures and flavors. These green beans go well with many different casserole entrees, too, like my poppy seed chicken casserole or easy chicken and rice casserole.
For a healthier twist, serve them alongside a refreshing salad.
And let’s not forget about bread! Warm, crusty bread or soft yeast rolls are always a winner with green beans, perfect for sopping up any delicious sauce or dressing on your plate. Another great option is my fancy Jiffy cornbread.
When it comes to beverages, a crisp white wine like Sauvignon Blanc or a light beer can be a great match with savory sides like green beans. For non-alcoholic options, try sparkling water infused with lemon or lime, or a refreshing iced tea.
To finish off your meal, choose a dessert that’s not too heavy or overly sweet. A fruit-based dessert like a mixed berry crisp or a tangy lemon tart can be a delightful finale.

Here are the items to gather to make this delicious and nutritious side dish.
- Fresh Green Beans: Opt for firm, brightly colored beans to ensure the best texture and flavor.

- Salt: Just a bit of salt enhances the natural sweetness of the beans and balances the flavors.

Roasting time varies depending on your oven and personal preference. Generally, 15 to 20 minutes should do the trick. Keep an eye on the beans, and give them a toss halfway through to ensure even cooking.
Can I store oven roasted green beans for later?
Yes, you can store these green beans for later. Let the beans cool to room temperature, then store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to four days. The same goes for leftovers.
