For a quick and easy side, try these roasted green beans. They’re a simple, scrumptious dish that has been a part of our family’s cooking as long as I can remember.
Rinse green beans, if not previously washed, and dry them.
Place them on a baking sheet.
Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle salt, pepper and garlic powder on top.
Mix with hands or spatula to evenly coat the green beans.
Roast for 12 minutes, then remove from the oven and toss the green beans with a spatula to keep them from burning on one side.
Then roast for another 12 minutes until well cooked.
Serve warm with optional toppings, see Note 2 below.
Notes
If you like green beans to have a little crunch to them, reduce the roasting time to 9-10 minutes each time.
Additional seasonings to consider: bacon pieces, pine nuts, toasted chopped almonds, sprinkle shredded parmesan cheese on top after baking, or sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes.
Roasted green beans can be stored for up to 4 days in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.
