When you want to make a timeless classic, this old-fashioned ham salad recipe hits the spot. A staple dish in households for generations, it makes a delicious and versatile option for lunches, snacks and appetizers.
1 ½poundsboneless cooked hamdiced or roughly chopped
1hard-boiled eggdiced or roughly chopped
4stalkscelerydiced or roughly chopped
¼cuponionfinely chopped
¾cupmayonaisse
3Tablespoonssweet picklefinely chopped
1TablespoonDijon mustard
freshly ground pepperto taste
crackers or rolls of choicefor serving
Instructions
In a food processor, roughly chop cooked ham, egg and celery. Season with some fresh black pepper. Pulse several times and scrape down the sides to make sure everything is evenly chopped. Pour into large mixing bowl.
In the food processor, finely chop onion and pickles. Scrape down the sides to make sure everything is evenly chopped. Then add it to the large mixing bowl with the ham mixture.
In a small mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard and more fresh ground black pepper to taste.
Stir sauce into ham mixture until well combined.
Cover and chill for at least 2-3 hours before serving. Serve with your favorite crackers or rolls.
